I’ve wanted to paddle board for forever, and this year it finally happened. I decided to try something new while my husband was out-of-town. When Foco Neon Paddle Boarding answered my call for the sunset slot, they told me a party of 5 was booked, leaving only one board available. Well this was perfect for me, since it was very spur of the moment planning. I reserved my spot at 4:30 and made it to Boyd Lake by 8:25 p.m.
This friendly couple gave us the rundown and soon enough, we’re out on the lake. I expected to fall, but luckily this never happened. It’s nice to begin in the daylight and exit in the moonlight. Between the board, the paddle, the life jacket and the headlamp, I felt well-prepared to explore the dark waters. For someone non-athletic such as myself, I can appreciate a leisurely sport.
