Soooo three weeks after Bonnaroo, I’m finally uploading pics. This excursion marked my 5th adventure on the farm and my first time dragging along a significant other. Keegan loved it! We selected a solid honeymoon choice.

Unlike my second year, I refused to capture moments from the actual shows unless it was someone I greatly looked forward to seeing. I lost my camera the first evening of my first Bonnaroo in 2010, so in 2011 I snapped pictures left and right. Same with the last two years. This trip was more about capturing moments with my husband than reaching down frantically in my bag during a show to find my phone, whip it out, and to try to record this one song by this one guy. This trip was about spending time with my favorite people–my husband, Chris Corley and my single lady friends.

We arrived at about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning and took the back-roads, like most locals do, and sailed through the gates with absolutely no traffic issues whatsoever. Pod 8 became home this year with a roughly 25 minute walk to camp. I’d say it wasn’t too good or too bad of a camping spot. My first two years proved physically challenging with nearly an hour walk, while my last 2 experiences had me walking less than 15 minutes from camp to Centeroo. All in all, I’d deem our site location as purely average. To our delight, we began a new row of tents, meaning we had an entire empty field in front of us, to ourselves, with a much-needed breeze and easy access to the restrooms.

And speaking of restrooms, we found a slew of flushing porta potties near the medical tent–the absolute best and cleanest bathrooms I’ve discovered at roo, ever. At a festival as large and wild as Bonnaroo, a pleasant bathroom experience is all it takes to get me through the day.

The one major difference this year compared to others was having my husband with me. It was so romantic and charming to have him around, as I’m usually used to doing everything independently. I never had the chance to snuggle with someone under the stars in prior years, but it felt comforting and totally natural to sleep in his arms on my back on a slightly dirty beach towel near That Tent among thousands of strangers. I felt safe, loved and in total awe of all the activity around us, including Courtney Barnett’s stellar performance. Thursday evening’s cozy vibes were unforgettable. Not to mention, we toted around a cumbersome poster board proclaiming our newlyweds status, and I wore my veil every chance I got. Bonnaruvians congratulated us throughout the course of the weekend and thanks to our unique totem pole, we landed free pizza and several other goodies.

My favorite performances this year included Flying Lotus, SBTRKT, Tears for Fears, Courtney Barnett, Jungle, Spoon, The War on Drugs, Temples and Tycho, to name a few.

Here’s some pics from the weekend:

Setting up camp with extra shade and tapestries

One of the best things to do at Bonnaroo is people watch. And catching snippets of other people’s conversations will have you in tears at some points. For instance, a slightly geek-ish looking guy in his late teens/early twenties is asked by two women “Are you ready to wash off in the mushroom fountain with us?” and his self-explanatory sigh was all we needed to hear. Or this other guy making fun of worn and weary people waiting in line for a taxi shouts out “Let’s LUNGE to camp!!” Or this other guy “complaining” SO loudly to his friend “I hate this place!!!! I’m never coming back again!!” (He was clearly intoxicated, speaking in a sarcastic tone). It’s a shame I can’t remember many other one-liners, but the things you hear are pretty funny.

I updated the list of concerts I’ve attended recently and wanted to share the final tally. From age 3 to 27, I’ve conquered a lot of ground. Feel free to scroll (and keep scrolling and scrolling) till you finally reach the bottom. The shows towards the end are the ones we caught at Bonnaroo last month.

Every year after Bonnaroo, I discover a musical act that I wish I had known before the festival. This year it was Jamie XX. I had yet to hear of this guy until last week and had no idea he was at ‘Roo till earlier today. FML.

That’s all I have for now. In the meantime, here’s this:
