Seems hard to believe that today marks the last day of my favorite month, September. Besides decorating the house and attending a few bonfires, I have yet to engage in a few of my favorite Fall activities, such as going to a corn maze, picking out a pumpkin and leaping into a pile of leaves.Yet the season is still young, and October offers ample opportunity to explore new territory this year. I don’t want to go to the same haunted house, the same corn maze or even the same coffee shop for the typical PSL. We moved to Nashville for a reason and therefore, I expect to do new shit.
On that note, we went to our first Predator’s game last Thursday. Got a pedi with Nichole for her birthday. I’ve tried several new restaurants in the past few weeks, plus made it to Cookeville for Keegan’s show and Stonefox for Pyle Sunday night. We went to Clint’s show on a whim in Murfreesboro, our first trip back to the boro in nearly a month. And to top it all off, I’ve made it to Jeni’s twice in a week AND enjoyed a lovely Saturday afternoon in Arrington with the girls. (Scroll down for pics).
I can’t remember if I mentioned this or not, but lately it’s been my goal to purposefully NOT schedule so many planned activities as I usually do on the weekends. Once I realized during the Oprah conference how busy I remain months in advance, I’ve tried to allow for sporadic, last-minute shindigs.
I’ve gotta admit, this lax approach to the weekends causes me to feel like I SHOULD be doing something, but I’m learning to cope. And returning to my neglected bookshelf has felt great. But I have yet to completely understand how to do nothing. I feel like I fail at trying to do nothing. My life has become a paradox: Girl tries to exercise more often while at the same time doing nothing. And as you can see from the photos, my weekends are still anything but boring. If someone knows how to live this balanced, even-handed lifestyle, would you please holla atcha girl?!
While I’m waiting for the release of Amy Poehler’s new book Yes, Please and Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl (which I believe hit stores today), I’ll be catching up on homework, sprucing up the blog and preparing for our epic Halloween party. In the mean time, check out the two following music videos: Courtney Barnett and Weird Dreams. And thank God for the Related Artists Section on Spotify, which always leads me to eclectic acts like these.
