I’m writing to share thoughts and feelings before a new,  monumental phase of life begins. I hope to review this post in the future to laugh at my anxiety, doubts and lack of ambition. I’m looking forward to/dreading tomorrow.

Keegan and I swept through the house last night at lightning speed to tidy up our space. The living room’s immaculate, not a single particle of dust, for now. We wanted the spare room to feel like an office. Luckily I’ve kept the desk Liberty gave me a few years ago, so the workstation has accumulated several calming candles, a new sugar skull lamp from my madre, photos and nifty office accessories. Like Brene Brown mentioned, “I have a slight obsession with office supplies, but that’s for another discussion”. I couldn’t agree more. I went all out at Dollar Tree yesterday (lol), but only spent about $20 on myself and a friend returning to school the same day as me.

Anyone familiar with Parks n Rec ought to understand when I say I had a “treat yourself” day yesterday. First I indulged in coffee at Jozoara’s, then dropped off a late Christmas present to my Granny. We wound up at Tropical Pollo in Smyrna for dinner, and it wasn’t that great, but we enjoyed each others company.

After stopping by the Dollar Tree, I picked up a new Sea Foam Green Yoga Mat and block from Walmart. Then I headed to Barnes n Noble to pick up a few books and a new planner.

In addition, I made a trip to Stonekeepers to add to my collections of gemstones. I wound up with Lepidolite, Apache Tear, Blue Chalcedony, Sunstone, Sodalite, and Garnet. The free stone’s called Blue Agate, which I already had, but that’s cool. Now that I can focus on yoga, I figure I can dedicate each day of the week to a different chakra and practice corresponding poses that day, meditating with the correct stones and crystals.

Unwinding with the hubs and watching The To Do List felt good. I put Erika’s gift basket together, read up on Reiki and passed out.

I’m bouncing around with a lot on my mind before bed. Even though it’s not my birthday yet, my mother and grandmother already dropped off gifts. Now we have more sugar skull items for the house. They know anything with Hispanic flair or Mediterranean zest tends to add more color to our flamboyant environment.

Feeling pretty optimistic about the new year so far. Besides eating breakfast everyday, adding Yerba Mate to my morning routine has definitely improved my spirits. I’m trying so hard to become a “morning person”.

Anyhoo, time to run off here and read before bed. I assume this will be my life for awhile, reading and writing more often. I really am excited to figure out grad school…to move forward and act on this chance to further my education. My ultimate dream would be to take survivors of domestic violence on therapeutic camping retreats and facilitate  group meetings, so this is a step in the right direction. If anyone’s reading this, I will keep you updated 🙂

Has nothing to do with anything, but this one-of-a-kind piece purchased at Bonnaroo made a lovely addition to the living room. Check out Rokoko Art based in New Mexico for similar artifacts and other eclectic items.IMAG4689
